Athlete Schoolboy Rob: Real or Manip?
A friend sent me this photo, and she says that’s Rob on the left and it’s from when he was in school. Is it true?
Oh goodness. I think we’re going to need a set of magnifying glasses to unravel this one. We’re willing to give it a shot, though. Onward!
The Evidence
There’s not much to go on here. Just a small photo of some type of class having a race of some sort. There’s nothing about the photo that would indicate it’s a manipulation, so instead we decided to find out if we could determine its origins.
Since the reader indicated the photo was from when Rob was in school, we started at the source. Since Rob attended The Harrodian School, that was our first stop. We quickly found the photo on one of the web pages at The Harrodian School’s website.
So we can say that the students in the photograph are Harrodian students, but that definitely doesn’t mean Rob is in the photo. There is no indication of what year the photo was taken. The student in question does slightly resemble Rob in height and hair color. Let’s take a closer look.
Unfortunately, blowing up the small pic for a closer look results in a blurry mess. There seems to be a familiar jawline, but the picture could be of anyone, really. And we did not receive a response to our request for information from The Harrodian School.
Alas, sometimes things are meant to be mysteries of the ages. Who built Stonehenge? What happened to DB Cooper? Who was Jack the Ripper?
To these epic questions, we can add another. Is that Robert Pattinson in that school photo? For now, we’re going to have to say we have no idea. The student in question bears a passing resemblance, but there’s no evidence that it really is Rob.
We hate to be so easily defeated, but we’re going to have to say this one is UNRESOLVED.
Ah, time for yet another movie. Rob is spending his early summer in and around the Los Angeles area shooting his next film, Water for Elephants. We can't wait for that one. And Eclipse promotion is calling his name as well. Happy June!As always...
You guys are right,it could be anyone, but when I first saw the pic the first things that reminded me of rob WAS the jawline. And that makes me suspiciouse…who else can have such a perfect jawline?
Just fishing around that Harrodian School website - you might want to check out the pdfs of the newsletters. The March 2005 newsletter cites Matilda Sturridge playing Madeleine Bejart in their production of Moliere. The more recent September 2008 has a picture of an Arthur Sturridge receiving congratulations for excellent academic achievement (not being British I am not totally clear what a GCSE result is). Arthur has GOT to be related to Tom Sturridge, Rob’s good buddy, because they look so much alike! (Very cute!)
Arthur is indeed Tom Sturridge’s younger brother.
It’s too bad they didn’t snap a picture of him actually running—case could easily have been solved then, lol.

He’s said before that he never really did sports and has never been athletic…so who knows?
I went to the harrodian school around the same time as Robert, but he was a few years older than me. he was my reading buddy, which is something they did around that time for my class. I can tell you that the photo is not of robert pattinson and it was taken around 2004 where he would have been in the 6th form. In fact i know people in the photo and it unfortunatley it isn’t Robert!

Hey, my name’s Chaz and I can clear up the confusion about this photograph. I know that the student in question isn’t Robert Pattinson because, quite embarrassingly, it’s me! I was linked to this page by my girlfriend who was googling Robert Pattinson and our old school so I thought I’d let you know that isn’t him (she’s one of the running girls). As Jake said, Robert was in Sixth Form when that photo was taken. Anyway, glad to clear up the misconception!
