Look at this photograph.  Please tell me it’s a manip!  It’s awful.  I can’t imagine Robert Pattinson would ever wear a holiday jumper that looks like that.  Is it real?

We’ve been holding on to this one, because we wanted to be in the proper holiday spirit when we tackled that sweater.  Ugh.  The sweater.  It’s awful, isn’t it?  It’s … got a zipper.  And it’s … green.  Very green.  An awful sort of lime green.  And it … has snowmen on it.  And Rob looks so proud to be wearing it!  He’s somewhat-jauntily staring at the camera.  And look!  He can cook meat on the grill all at the same time. 

Maybe Rob is actually a real-life version of Colin Firth in Bridget Jones’ Diary?? Maybe he is just wearing the holiday jumper his happy mum got for him for Christmas like a good boy.  Can there be any other excuse?

We think not.

The Verdict

Phew.  That was a close one.  We can rest assured that Robert Pattinson’s questionable fashion sense does not extend to truly hideous Christmas sweaters.  And to be fair to the man in the original photograph, he was wearing that sweater to an “Ugly Christmas Sweater” party.  That explains it, doesn’t it?

Now, why in the world someone would take the time to put that interesting photo of Rob’s head on that equally-interesting sweater pic is beyond us.  Perhaps they were just swept up in the holiday spirit.  Let’s hope so.  And we hope you have a great holiday as well.

And this photograph?  It’s a manip.  This one is busted.

The Evidence

Looks like a couple to us.  Enough said, right? 

But for some, the arguments will continue.

No, sorry, we don’t buy the “it was all a set up” argument.  It was dark.  It was a private runway and they were in a private jet.  Yes, we’ve seen the picture of Rob’s manager, Nick Frenkel, apparently looking at the camera.  But this is an incredibly-zoomed photograph.  It was taken with a long lens.  In the dark, we don’t think anyone could have seen anything.

Rob and Kristen are acting normally and seem to be aware that something might be up in the later photographs.  They don’t particularly look pleased.

And let’s face it.  This is not normal behavior for Rob.  He does not normally run around holding hands or locking arms with co-stars.  At least, not in his everyday life.  Sure, he does so for photoshoots, but that is not the same thing.

The Verdict

No need to spend much time on this one, really.  This isn’t a single photograph that came out of nowhere.  If it had been, there would probably be a lot to discuss.  However, there have been lots and lots and lots of other things that have made people wonder about “Robsten”.  So far, although we’ve been convinced that the two are close, we haven’t seen the actual PDA or anything that would serve as enough evidence to tip the scale.

So, although Rob isn’t answering the question, and Kristen is “keeping something for herself”, this photograph, combined with other statements and behavior, is enough for us.  Rob and Kristen appear to be dating.  And they look happy.  Good enough for us.

[A fan site] printed 3 photographs that are allegedly from the Vanity Fair shoot, and [I've] never seen [them] before until today.  I think this one in particular looks suspiciously like a forgery.

We’ve been enjoying delightful outtakes from this Vanity Fair shoot for nearly a year.  Several new photos surfaced again today.  Some people have questions about this photo featuring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.  As always, it’s such a chore to pour over Rob photos, but once again we make the sacrifice to figure this one out.

The Evidence

The photos are, as indicated at many of the sites that posted the photos, from an issue of Spain’s Hola magazine.  To the left, you can see the shot as it appeared in the magazine.The entire story was filled with photographs from the Peggy Sirota Vanity Fair shoot, including several that had never been seen before.

Upon a close look at the photograph in question, Kristen’s face does seem darker than either Rob’s face or the rest of her body.  But if you notice, you can also see the sun reflection coming through on the upper right on the photograph. The sun pops through on many of the photographs from this particular shoot.  In fact, you can see it right above Kristen’s head in the photograph on the top left of the picture here.

These sun rays are by no means visible in only this shot, but in many of the Vanity Fair pictures.

More importantly, there is video of this exact moment.  Vanity Fair shot video of the entire photoshoot and uploaded the behind-the-scenes video to their website.  You can see Rob and Kristen shoot this exact photograph at approximately 16:45 in the video, and see people viewing it on monitors at around 17:35.

 The Verdict

We’ve seen a ton of manips here at the site.  Some very, very good ones, and some that are so awful that we can’t believe that there is a question they are manipulations.

This one is pretty easy, though.  It is most definitely an authentic shot from the Vanity Fair photoshoot.  You can clearly see the two in this position in the behind-the-scenes video.

Alas, this seems to the be result of constant photo manipulations hitting the internet.  People are now very suspicious of what they see.  No need to be wondering about this one, though, or the other photographs in Hola magazine.  These sexy-as-hell shots are all real.

You are looking at Robert Pattinson’s first and last tweet.  All those Twitter accounts you keep emailing us about?  Fakes.  Yes, all of them.  But the one you’re looking at that says it’s official?  Fake.  The one that was passed onto you by a friend and is super-secret and no one knows about it?  Fake.  The one where the guy doesn’t even really pretend to be Rob, but yet you know it’s really him by the clues?  Fake.  But…but…but the one where he knew all about Patty the dog, and other stuff no one else knows about?  Yeah, no one but  fans like you?  Fake.  Fake.  Fake.  Fake. 

So yay!  Pop the champagne, pull out the confetti, and douse yourself with glitter. Twitter, which creates problems for a lot of celebrities, has it’s purpose at times.  Robert Pattinson doesn’t have a Twitter.  Done.

They’re not actually engaged!   They’re talking about the Bella and Edward engagement.  And that’s not even right, since he actually proposes to her at the end of New Moon, and Bella finally agrees to it in Eclipse, but anyway…

I JUST SPENT MONEY ON THIS CRAP?  WHAT???

Ah yes.  The enticing tabloid cover.  Isn’t it pretty?  Look how bold it is!  Huge headlines, scandalous photos and so much more.  It just sucks you in.  Let’s make our own!

Step One:  Choose Your Subject

Choose carefully.  You want something that is going to grab the largest group of readers.  You want someone attractive.  And sex sells.  Therefore…

Robert Pattinson

Very well done!  You get an A+ on subject selection.   That was easy, wasn’t it?

Step Two:  Choose Your Photo

Now as much as you’d like to use that scandalous, fuzzy taken-from-afar papparazzi shot, it really doesn’t make great cover material.  So go for something posed.  

If you are dissing your subject, choose the least flattering photo as possible.  I’m talking the kind of photo that makes people say, “Wait a minute, is that really Joe Schmoe from 1994’s Gidget Goes to Hollywood?  Holy crap!!  What the hell happened to him!” 

This is risky, though.  Remember your mantra.  Sex sells.  So, if you’re doing a “they are engaged/married/sexing/cheating/heartbroken/in love” cover it’s preferable to keep it as sexy as possible.  Note the People Magazine cover selection.  Nicely done!  I’m drooling and opening my wallet already.   

Oh, and of course if you have a highly-embarassing mug shot, that always works, too!  No need to stand on ethics or principles here!  It’s a tabloid!

Step Three:  The Headline

Now is where you really get to have fun and be creative!  It’s time to release  your inner child:  the headline is all about bright colors and bold words. 

Of course, always keep in mind the most important detail:  Sex sells.  So no matter what your story is about, you have to somehow bring it back to sex.  Always.

And don’t be worried if your story is just sort of so-so and doesn’t have anything new to say.  Headlines are all about creative writing!  Let’s do a few examples:

Story:  Rob stopped by a Starbucks alone for a coffee after filming one day.

Lonely Rob Heartbroken without Kristen!

Story:  Xavier Samuel flies to Vancouver for Eclipse filming.

A New Vampire Woos Kristen!

Story:  Rob announces new film project.

Hollywood Tears Rob & Kristen Apart!

See, isn’t that fun?  Now don’t worry about silly things like what the story is actually about.  We’ll put a subheadline under there to add a few details, like “Source Reports Rob Depressed With Kristen Gone” or “Robert Pattinson Jealous As Lookalike Vamp Comes On The Scene”. 

There are just three rules on headline writing:  be brief, use the exclamation mark (always!), and the only acceptable colors for a headline are yellow, pink or white.

Don’t mess with us here.  Don’t try to break the rules.  Only the real experts can do that.

I came across this pic on the net and was curious - is it real?  I know it would have had to have been taken earlier this year, when Rob cut his hair, but this seems awfully intimate.  Is this Robsten Proof? 

We figured we would spend this evening tackling the latest rumor from Splash News:  a reported sighting of Michael Angarano in Vancouver with Kristen this past weekend.  However, the quick and tidy people over at Gossip Cop nailed that one quickly and easily today, and we agree.  It doesn’t appear Michael was there.  

So what is a team of crack researchers to do with their extra time?  A quick trip to the Pattinson Anonymous mailbag today took care of that for us.  We received another question about the above picture.  In fact, we have received lots of questions about this picture.  It’s not new, so we were rather surprised to still be getting questions about it.  There were people in the universe that didn’t know about this photo?  Now our path was clear.

Kristen and Rob snuggled up in bed.  Isn’t that romantic?  We turn down the lights, slip on our naughtiest negligee, light the candles, put on the Barry White (yeah, we get doooooowwwn like that) and cuddle up with this photo.  Aaaah.  Real or manip?

What??!!  That was quick.  We set the mood, got all dolled up and sexy, lit candles, and pulled out the BARRY WHITE for this?  This is nothing but a quickie three-minute man post!  How disappointing.  We’re … unfulfilled.  But indeed the source for the Rob picture is a fan photo taken with the man himself while he was in England and posted on PerezHilton on January 20, 2009. 

You remember January, 2009, don’t you?  Those were black days, with nary a Rob sighting for almost three weeks.  I don’t know how we all managed to get through it.  Here at the Pattinson Anonymous offices we nearly spiraled into alcoholism in our despair.  Well, we enjoyed a few margaritas when we were bored, anyway.  Apparently, though, some people were very excited by Rob’s reemergence and celebrated by creating the manipulation our posters are asking about now.  It’s been around for a long time, and we don’t know where exactly it originated, but a manip it is.  This photo is BUSTED.

What do you think about this article?  This newspaper says that they just talked to Robert Pattinson a couple of days ago and he says he doesn’t have a girlfriend and is single.  I’m so confused.

Surprise, surprise.  Just days after the Kings of Leon pics hit the web and cause a sensation, we have a British tabloid saying they just spoke to Rob and he declares he’s single.  A clever PR strategy?  Exasperated Rob declaring his singledom?  Outright lies?  A combination?  Oooh goody!  We love playing with the tabloids.  Onward!

The Evidence

The Daily Mirror did indeed declare that they had an “exclusive” interview with Rob in their article from August 19, 2009:

And this weekend, despite being at pains to deny a romantic relationship in the past, Robert and Kristen were caught snuggling up together at a Kings of Leon concert in Vancouver where they’re filming the hotly-awaited movie sequel The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

But was it really a case of afterlife imitating art? Apparently not. In an exclusive interview with the vampire just days before the pictures were taken, heart-throb Robert insists he’s still single and adds: “I don’t have a girlfriend. I don’t know why.”

Certainly Rob has declared he was single several times in the past, but we haven’t heard from him on the subject recently.  It seems odd, though, that in a world where virtually all entertainment outlets are clamoring for an interview that Rob would choose to speak with a well-known tabloid. 

The article’s quotes seem…familiar.  Not quite right.  They sound awfully close to what he’s said before.  For instance, when asked about people wanting him to bite their necks, Rob is quoted in the article as saying:

He’s happy to sign autographs but sometimes has to put his foot down, especially when fans ask him to bite their necks. He laughs: “I have to tell them: ‘Look, I can’t I’m afraid, because it will hurt.’

But is basically the quote of his regarding the same subject that was making the rounds back in December, 2008 as reported at various outlets:

He said: “It’s a little freaky. People keep asking me to bite their neck. I was with a whole bunch of teenage girls yesterday and they were just saying, ‘Bite me please!’

“I have to tell them, ‘Look I can’t I’m afraid, because it will hurt.”

Gotcha!  Clearly, that is a recycled quote.  We dance!  We sing!  It’s a rock ‘n roll party around here…

Unfortunately, just because a lot of the article consists of recycled quotes doesn’t necessarily prove that the “new” quotes about Rob’s single status are false. 

And the use of recycled quotes is no surprise, since that is the standard operating procedure at tabloid offices.  His comments regarding being uncomfortable in crowds and having a panic attacks in a supermarket is definitely not new.  In fact, most of the entire end portions of the “exclusive” talking about Rob’s background in the theater, modeling as a young teen, his desire to study international relations in college, etc. are all known facts and old quotes.

But come on.  No one cares about those old quotes, do they?   Oh no.  It’s all about the quotes saying he’s single. 

“You always think you’re going to get more girls after you’ve made a movie and it never happens.

“You sit there and you’re like ‘I’m a big movie star and I want to go out with some models’ but I don’t know why that doesn’t happen.

“It’s especially different in LA. Most of the women there are actresses and by default that makes them a little bit nuts – not that that’s a bad thing. But  I don’t really have a type.

If only someone would get an official statement about such comments.  You know, something from Rob’s management team… 

The Verdict

Ahhhh, thank you Gossip Cop.  If we knew you personally we’d plant a sloppy kiss on your lips as a thank you for wrangling a statement from Rob’s people on the subject of this interview:

 A rep for Robert Pattinson has given GossipCop.com an exclusive statement regarding the actor’s supposed interview with The Mirror:

“I will only comment on matters regarding Robert’s professional life, but in order to set the record straight, Robert did not speak to the Mirror, and their claim that they spoke to him a few days ago is manufactured along with any information that they claim to have as an exclusive directly from him.”

Gasp!  We’re shocked!  We’re horrified!  A tabloid manufactured this article and lied about speaking to Rob a few days ago?  Color us surprised.

Not.

Ladies and gents, there you go.  Sweet and simple.  Rob did not speak with the Daily Mirror.  This is BUSTED.

Tell me you’re going to do a story about the pictures of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart kissing during the Kings of Leon concert.  That’s what it looks like to me.  Are they finally out as a couple?

The cast of Twilight got a chance to head out to see the Kings of Leon concert in Vancouver.  Instead of the really important question that should come from these pictures–how did they snag VIP seats for a Kings of Leon concert… and more importantly, how can we get set up with goodies like that?!–everyone is buzzing on Rob and Kristen’s behavior and the photos that may or may not show them kissing.

The two aren’t hiding around much anymore are they?  Is this the smoking gun at last?  Rob and Kristen kissing in public?  Let’s take a look.

The Evidence

There are a slew of photographs from the night of concert.  Most of them are reasonably clear and you can see Rob and Kristen in a lot of interaction.  Some of them show the two just watching the concert:

And others show the two talking and laughing with each other:

All of these clearer photos seem to be taken at around the same time.  You can see Rob has two beers propped up on the ledge there, Kristen one.  Kristen is wearing a white sleeveless tee.

The pictures showing the two in “the kiss” seem to be taken at a different time, probably earlier in the evening.  Kristen seems to be wearing a dark jacket of some kind.  She must have removed it at some point, because in the other photos she’s in just the white shirt.  Rob also only has one beer on the ledge, not two:

Unfortunately, the quality of the earlier photos is not nearly as good.  Blowing them up and lightening them up helps a little, as you can see.  But it’s still a bit hard to see the details.  The above photo is the clearer of the two, we think.  You can clearly see Kristen’s head and her ear.  You can also see Rob’s beanie, a tiny bit of his forehead and the edge of his ear right above her knee.  But what’s going on behind the knee?  If you follow the angle of Rob’s beanie, though…his head is looking pretty far down.

For us, the angles don’t match up for a kiss on the lips.  Unless Rob is kissing her thigh.  Or Kristen is kissing his ear.  Or nuzzling his neck.  Or something. 

Don’t get all dirty now!

The second one you see at the top of our story is a little fuzzier.  You can’t even see Kristen’s face.  So what’s going on there?  Let’s take a look.  Hey, we blew it up and broke it down with cute little arrows and everything.

Are you impressed with our mad graphics skills?  Yeah, we didn’t think so.

Once again Kristen has her knees propped up on the ledge (evidently, MamaStew never taught her that’s not very ladylike).  You can clearly identify her right shoulder and arm as she leans in toward Rob.  We think we see her hand on her knee.  Rob’s beanie is pretty clearly visible, as is his ear.

Once again it’s the ear.  Follow the angle of his head.  It looks too low to be aiming for Kristen’s face.  Her head would have to be below her knee level for the angles to work out correctly.  If you follow her shoulder you can see where her head should be.  She would have to be contorting downward in order to be at the level of Rob’s lips.

Sorry…we got distracted.

Honestly, though, the photo is too fuzzy to tell for sure.  The angles on this photo are closer than the previous one, but we don’t think it matches up.  The knee is in the way, though, so we can’t tell.

Yes, we understand that a lot of you will see the angles and think that is a kiss.  That’s okay.  It’s a possibility.  But we’re looking at the angles and we don’t see it.  In fact, we hate to even mention it, but it looks to us like he’s leaning in and she’s talking right into his ear.

The Verdict

We honestly hoped this would be it.  Clear proof.  Let the arguing cease in the fandom and let Rob and Kristen be whatever the heck they are, one way or the other.

But this isn’t it, in our opinion.

We wish it was it.  We want it to be it.  We’re sick of the questions, to be honest.  But the quality is just too poor, and we don’t think the shots show what a lot of people want them to show. 

What we will say is that, overall, the photos of the entire evening do show two people who seem very intimate, happy and comfortable with each other.  Friends?  Definitely.  A couple?  Probably so.  Proof positive, though?  No.  Sorry, this photo will have to remain UNRESOLVED.

So, let’s take a deep breath and be happy that the Rob, Kristen and the cast got to see a Kings of Leon concert.  And let’s concentrate on the important part.

Like trying to figure out how to wrangle VIP seats for a Kings of Leon concert.  Now that is some investigating we’re more than happy to do…

I saw this picture this afternoon, and it looks like Rob and Kristen are happy to be seen out in public together now.  Is it real?

It looks like Kristen and Rob had their coming out this past weekend!  They even got cuddly at the Teen Choice Awards.  What do you say about this picture?

The delight at seeing Kristen and Rob out and about in California last week has evidently sent people flying to their computers and digging through pictures in order to…

…I don’t know.  Hone their Photoshop skills?   Live out their fantasies?  I don’t get it.  Nevertheless, these are super easy, so let’s get to it.

The Evidence

Photo Number One

The first of the shots got a lot of attention when Perez Hilton linked to the photo on his Twitter with the following comment on his tweet:

“Robsten, it sure looks like it’s official! Holding hands in Vancouver! http://bit.ly/Xd95T Why R-Patz? You can do MUCH better than K-Stew!”

Alas, since details are not Perez Hilton’s strong point, he did not bother to notice that the link took him to a post on twifans.com called manipkrisrob.

Yeah, rather a big hint there, don’t you think?

And indeed, it is a photo manipulation.  Here’s the original, which was taken during the filming of New Moon with Kristen Stewart and Michael Angarano.

They just took out Michael’s head (poor fellow) and slapped on Rob’s noggin’.  Easy enough.

Photograph Number Two

The photograph of Rob and Kristen at the Teen Choice Awards was sent to us by a reader, and to be honest, we haven’t been able to track down where it originated.  Perhaps a reader or two would be able to help us with that detail.

Our first clue that it wasn’t real was that this photograph was not splashed on the cover of every tabloid, gossip column and website within 2.7 seconds of being released after the awards show.

And Kristen’s hand looks really odd there, too, doesn’t it?

So, yes it’s a manip.  They took the two following shots and combined them.

The Verdict

People, people, people.  We just don’t understand it.  Why spend the time creating these manipulations again and again? 

Honestly, we’re not sure if they do it to have some fun with the fans, bolster their Robsten case for the non-believers that are annoying them, or just to stare at and sigh.

And it is a bit annoying when more mainstream sites put up these manipulations without doing even a tiny bit of research into whether they are real or not.  Yes, Perez, we’re talking to you.  

Perhaps we should be positive and look at the bright side.  This provided us an opportunity to dig through and stare at all of the Teen Choice Awards photos again, so I suppose we will count our blessings! 

These photos, though?  Soooo busted.
