Is Robert Pattinson Gay?
Is Rob gay and just hiding it until all filming in the Twilight series movies are done?
Whenever a good looking Hollywood male celebrity hits the super stardom ranks like Robert Pattinson, it seems rumors begin flying about the star’s sexuality. Many times these stories originate on gossip sites that post anonymous sources with no evidence or verifiable facts. With the upcoming 2009 release of Little Ashes, and Rob’s portrayal of rumored bisexual artist Salvador Dali, the stories once again began circulating. So what is the real story? Although it’s impossible for any outsider to know the truth to something as intimate as a person’s sexuality, we’ll try to answer the question: Is Robert Pattinson gay?
The Evidence
It is weird. Now, you just get seen with any girl or anyone and you are immediately dating–or even guys…you know, even with my manager. I get photographed with my manager all the time. They’re like, “Who’s Rob’s mystery man?” And it’s like, it’s my manager.
Another rumor started in the Fall of 2008 as well, when someone edited Rob’s Wikipedia with the follow entry:
Pattinson is sparking current speculation of being homosexual. He has been seen dating Australian born actor Angus Mullane in early 2009.
The person that added that bit to Wikipedia, however, also indicated that the unkown Australian actor listed was also dating Megan Fox and other celebrities. It was clearly a hack and was quickly removed, but the rumor lingered.
People have also spoken about Rob’s very close relationship with Tom Sturridge. The two were seen often in and around Los Angeles over the summer and fall of 2008, with Tom accompanying Rob to events, out to bars and other places out on the town.
Tom is an actor as well, so it’s no real surprise that he spends time in Los Angeles, or that he attends industry functions.
Rob has known Tom since they were children, and considers him his best friend. He discussed that the two lived together in a “cool little ex-crack den” in London in Interview Magazine. Tom also has reportedly dated their mutual friend, Camilla Belle, in the past.
Rob also spent some time living in London with his girlfriend, Nina Schubert. Nina, an artist and model at the time, met Rob in London at school and the two were in both with the Barnes Theatre Company. They dated for what looks like a period of approximately three years, from he time Rob was 18 until about 21. Nina mentioned the relationship and the fact that the two are still friends in an interview with Taranaki Daily News:
“Rob is still a really good friend of mine. He’s hopefully going to come here, if he can get a break from working. I gave him my paintings when we lived together in London. Now he’s commissioned me to paint one for him and I’m working on it.”
Rob had remained relatively tight-lipped about the relationship until pretty recently, when he discussed it briefly in an interview with Spain’s Glamour Magazine.
Do you remember the first time you loved someone?
Yes. It’s weird to enjoy your first love, especially if the relationship lasts a long time. Our relationship was really beautiful, but we didn’t have an obsessive love like in the movie. Her presence in my life made me very happy for three years. Now it’s kind of hard to talk about it.
Robert also flat-out said he is straight when discussing shooting the sex scenes in Little Ashes while speaking with GQ:
“I thought I’d never get another acting job again,” Pattinson says. “So I was like, ‘Yeah—why not try to do something weird?’ There’s all these gay sex scenes. And y’know, I haven’t even done a sex scene with a girl, in my whole career.” –
–“And here I am, with Javier [Beltrán], who plays Lorca, doing an extremely hard-core sex scene, where I have a nervous breakdown afterward. And because we’re both straight, what we were doing seemed kind of ridiculous.”
The Verdict
The Pattinson Anonymous team believes there’s nothing to the rumors that Rob is gay. This one is busted. He had a long-term girlfriend, and has himself said he is straight. His close friendships appear to be just that…close friendships.
We believe most of the rumors stem from the fact that Rob has not been seen with a bevy of Hollywood arm-candy out and about and at functions. But that in itself means nothing. Rob seems to go against the grain a bit, so we don’t expect the usual from him.
Does this set the record straight? No pun intended, of course.

I love Rob, he’s a great actor and gorgeous, not his fault. I wish everyone would just stop speculating on all the things they perceive as negative about him. His hair, his smell, his sexuality, who he is or isn’t dating. It gets tiresome. Can’t we just admire him and give him a break?
yeah this one is busted.if people can’t tell that he is straight they need to get thier eyes checked.besides him playing a role as a bisexual just shows that he is a really good actor
I do not intend to see LITTLE ASHES and I do believe that the movie was a mistake for Pattinson to make; however, he is young and can recover from it. I am also concerned that his comments regarding women, girls and dating, sexuality appear to indicate that he is shallow regarding love and what it means. I believe that my original statements (I was one of the first to compare him with Marlon Brando) may be in error unless he regroups and decides to refrain from some of his comments. TWILIGHT series is going to keep him popular for several years but I do believe he would want to make some wise decisions regarding his publicity and his choice of acting work and what he says. He doesn’t need to prove anything except remaining true to his real self. He needs more self-confidence so that he does not make statements to the media such as that he sought acting to meet and date girls. An artist/actor seeks acting because it is his or her creative outlet — and his music proves that he has a creative self that seeks expression. As far as him “being a homosexual” — Heath Ledger was far from a homosexual — in fact, Heath Ledger was a truly great, wonderful and nice young man. A KNIGHT’S TALE is one of my favorites. One of the things I liked best is how he loved his woman and his family. And — the guy was truly charismatic and gorgeous.

He did an interview with a Spanish Newspaper EL PAIS, the ask him who kiss better Javier Beltran or Kristine Stuard? and he said “Definitely Javier Beltran” Im not saying his gay because this but hi is definitely very FUNNY..

I have MANY MANY friends who are gay…My best friend is a drag queen for heavens sake. I know so many gay boys who have had girlfriends…coming out is not the easiest thing to do, even when you are NOT living your life in a fishbowl, but I’m telling you there is no way Rob is gay. I have a indisputable Gaydar and we have taken a poll among a fairly large number of gay men, young and old alike. Not one got the Gay vibe from him! So regardless of past relationships, current friendships or rumors, the verdict from the experts is in. He’s straight as a pin

Why to believe in rumours just for the sake of believing in anything? Isn’t better to keep what is on our sight and let things happen? What significant change would happen if Robert once said he is gay? Wouldn’t he be the same person as always?
Sorry, but I feel very upset with all of these rumours about Robert, not just because I am always upset about rumours at all, but because Robert is just a kind and simple person that I admire a lot. It’s sad, even knowing that he’s a celebrity and it’s part of the celebrities life. I hope these stuffs don’t make any harm to his personality and he keeps being the great person he is.

No way is he gay. I have never met a gay man that doesn’t shave, wash his hair or wears the same clothes day in and day out. Sorry, but it’s true.
Does it really matter anyway? The guy is talented and his sexual orientation is no ones business but his own!
i don’t think it was a mistake for him to make this movie.i don’t think people need to go around saying it was beacuse it shows how talented he really is.besides have you seen the kissing scenes thier hot as hell lol.
Thank you for all the great work you all do. I don’t think Rob Pattinson is gay, but I heard him say on the Ryan Seacrest radio show (during an interview) that he was gay. Ryan asked him about how his partner/boyfriend felt about all this fame, and he said that he is handeling it all very well. So, is he atleast bi? I just don’t get it. So which is it? Gay? Bi? or Straight? I just wish we could know for sure. Thanks again.

In response to what Lindsey (#14) said: I heard the Ryan Seacrest show, and he never said he was gay. You must have somehow misunderstood.
I love - no - am obsessed with Rob - not Cedric, Edward or Tyler. He is totally gorgeous. Yes, he is still quite naive when it comes to the press +/or interviews. He says things that he shouldn’t have said; but that’s just Rob - it’s his funny, goofy, and youthful demeanor. He just turned 23 and all this craziness just fell on his lap whether he wanted it or not. This rumor of his sexuality surfaced mainly because of Little Ashes and maybe the photo spread at GQ mag. Actually, he looked hot on these photos, but what’s with that necklace with the (wedding) band he’s shown wearing? I’ve never seen Rob wearing any type of jewelry before. He was also photographed wearing a “mesh” wifebeater - not a regular cotton one. So where is Rob’s mamager/agent/publicist when they dressed Rob for the photo session? Come on guys - Rob’s paying big bucks to have you guys look after him and his image. Rob is an easy-going guy and he’ll just do what ever anyone suggests. I hope Rob can learn from all these experiences and come out stronger and wiser.

I watched several interviews with him and was intrigued by the interview he did with a London Reporter at the London premiere of “Twilight” , she asked him if the rumor was true that him and Kristin S. were involved with each other outside of their movie “Twilight.” He stated that ” no, that rumor is not true because I am asexual.

I dont care one way or the other. He’s a great acter. I have to wonder what the world would be like if everyone stopped makeing assumptions and judments about people. Cant we just appreitciate people for who they are and what they do in life.
Not saying you do PA, but unfortunately most people trying to make a case either way, or insinuating something, probably have their own selfish agenda. I wouldn’t take things Rob says in response to stupid interviewers, or his sarcastic humor as “EVIDENCE” of anything. Gay, bi, straight, who cares. He’s gorgeous. Talented. Uber-sexy. No one is immune to Rob’s charms - male or female.

He is definitely gay.! only a gay could say that he hates vaginals, he looked son disgusted when he was shot with the girls…he does not come out because of the twilight “sexy” marketing policy. They build a whole fake love story between Kirstin and him, just to give some excitement to the groupies..
