Just the Facts: A “Remember Me” Update

We had not anticipated doing another segment on the “Remember Me” script and project, but since several more questions have come through, and there seems to be some confusion and some false rumors making the rounds about the project, we thought we’d do a quick update and answer a few more questions.
Is this movie based on a Nicholas Spark’s novel? I keep hearing that, but I’ve never heard of a novel of his called either “Memoirs” or “Remember Me”.
No. The script appears to be an original work by Will Fetters, and it has been rewritten by screenwriter Jenny Lumet. Several articles have reported the project is based on a Nicholas Sparks book, but this is not correct. We believe the confusion originated when the original screenwriter, Will Fetters, was hired to pen a completely separate Nicholas Sparks project. The news was reported on March 30th in the Hollywood Reporter:
Will Fetters is getting lucky.
The scribe has signed to pen “The Lucky One,” an adaptation of the most recent Nicholas Sparks novel that’s been set up at Warner Bros.
Di Novi Pictures is producing the romantic drama, which tells the story of a marine in Iraq who, for good luck, carries the photograph of a woman he has never met, then unearths a raft of secrets when he returns to the U.S. and sets out to find her.
Fetters, repped by Endeavor and Underground Management, also is penning “Memoirs,”the Summit relationship drama that’s a potential starring vehicle for Robert Pattinson.
Is it true that Amanda Seyfried from “Mama Mia” has been hired to play the role of Ally, Tyler’s girlfriend?
From what we can tell, that is not the case. Although we suppose many actresses, including Amanda, could be in contention for the role, no casting information has been released.
This “casting” has been reported all around, but we can find no official source. The rumor appears to have originated with a short blurb on Just Jared, Jr.:
Robert will star alongside Amanda Seyfried in Remember Me, which will shoot this summer in New York. Formerly titled Memoirs, the story is about two lovers whose newfound relationship is threatened as they try to cope with their respective family tragedies.
Once again, we think the confusion comes from a previous article in Screen Daily, in which they discuss four movies that Summit Entertainment is bringing to Cannes, including “Remember Me” plus an Amanda Seyfried film:
Summit Entertainment is presenting four new titles to buyers at Cannes this year including two new Summit productions - a romantic drama starring Twilightsensation Robert Pattinson and a generational love story set in Italy starring Amanda Seyfried.
Pattinson is starring in Remember Me which is shooting this summer in New York while the actor is between Twilight sequels New Moon, which wraps at the end of May, and Eclipse, which starts in August…
…Meanwhile Gary Winick (Bride Wars, 13 Going On 30) is directing Letters To Juliet which stars Seyfried as an American girl in Italy who discovers the legend of the “letters to Juliet” – love letters which visitors leave in the wall of Juliet’s courtyard in Verona which are individually answered by a group of women called the secretaries of Juliet. While at the wall, the girl discovers a letter written in 1958 which has never been picked up and she decides to go on a quest to find the lovers in question.
As you can see, they are discussing two completely separate movies.
Are “Memoirs” and “Remember Me” the same film? Are are they two different films Rob is doing?
That’s an easy one. It’s the same film. The original script was entitled “Memoirs”, it appears the project is being renamed “Remember Me”. Of course, who knows what the official title will end up being, but as of right now, even IMDb has changed the project title to “Remember Me”.
Are they shooting in New York? When?
All indications are that the film will be shooting in New York City. Our source indicates filming will take place from the middle of June through the end of July–a six week shoot.

Ah, time for yet another movie. Rob is spending his early summer in and around the Los Angeles area shooting his next film, Water for Elephants. We can't wait for that one. And Eclipse promotion is calling his name as well. Happy June!As always...

Is it true this movie will out in february 2010?
Thanks for clearing some rumors up. I read the script and I think it’s going to be amazing.
Hi, Where are you from? Is it a secret?
Yes its true. Its been confirmed by Dark Horizons that the film will be released on St Valentines Day
Where are we from? Is it a secret? Why yes…it’s up there with “Where is Jimmy Hoffa buried?” and “Who killed JFK?”
It’s that secret.
I kind of wish Rob would also do Bel Ami. I would love to see him play George DuRoy, european gigolo :)))
I heard he was going to be in Bel Ami. At least that is what is being reported. As well as a movie with Hugh Jackman. Busy man!!
I read the script as well. Although I can see the allure because of the ending, the rest of the story has been done over and over. I understand Lumet (Rachel Getting Married) is rewriting, so it will be interesting to see what she does with it. I did not come up with this thought on my own so I cannot take credit but I happen to agree–sans surprise ending the story itself does not stand on its own. The example given was “The Sixth Sense.” The story was great even without the ending…add the surprise ending and it was a spectacular film. Of course, this movie will make lots of money (which is the goal unfortunately) because Pattinson will be the box office draw. I know that Pattinson is very intelligent (well-read and articulate), as well as a really sweet, down-to-earth guy but when the stakes are this high and everybody associated has the potential to gain a lot from this movie, I wonder if he is getting the best advice. This is my own opinion for what it is worth–Rob, finish your commitments then disappear. Go back to school…well-educated actors make for more interesting performances…God knows you’ll be missed A LOT, but you most certainly will not be forgotten. You’ll regret it if you don’t continue your education, as most do if they have had the opportunity to go and didn’t. Besides, we all know about too much of a good thing…
Like Rob needs your advice about going back to school.
Looking forward to seeing him in all his varied future projects and he will have some more.
Ann sounds like a an actor who is annoyed Rob’s getting all the roles. HA.
Actually….Ann sounds like an intelligent person who has the best interests of Rob at heart. Rob has said himself that he wishes he could go to university. He is very well read and very articulate and very intelligent and I am sure he will do what he thinks best. He picks roles based on things other than how much money is to be made and has said many times that if the acting thing fails, he will go back to his music. Sounds to me like he has a plan either way and what we as the fanbase wants is really not up to us. We will see Rob in films for as long as Rob feels he is doing what he wants to do, and for no longer. Be glad for what he has done and will do in the future, and let this man steer his own life and pick his own scripts. He is a better judge than any of us could ever be.
Is it strange that no other cast members have been named for Remember Me and they’ve started production already?
The article is ver good. Write please more
so Emile De Ravin is playing Ally. there’s pics everywhere of them filming. and Pierce Brosan is said to be playing Tyler’s (rob’s) father. i got that one from imdb but idk…
and i read the script. i loved it! comedy was awesome and the romance and the sadness. i mean some of their lines were just… classic. loved it. beautiful classic one liners. it was kinda like when someone says something and you can’t think of anything go to retaliate with? well they had the perfect ones that you wish you thought of ahahah. i’m really excited for this movie. it’s very different from anything rob’s done. and that’s what i like. but i know he will be amazing. i’m soo excited!!
I keep reading that some of you have read the script or screenplay. I’d love to read it also - but can’t find it anywhere! Will you let us know where I can get a hold of the script? Thanks in advance!
Where can I get the screenplay to read? I would like to read it before the movie comes out. Am looking forward to seeing Robert in this.
It’s a pity that people don’t realize the importance of this information. Thanks for posing it.
