Just the Facts: The “Memoirs”/”Remember Me” Script, Part I

Can you tell us more about “Memoirs” ["Remember Me", see update below]? I hear Rob might do the film. I want to know more!
Ever since a Hollywood Reporter article mentioned that Rob was considering a project entitled “Memoirs”, people have been searching for information on the movie. The Hollywood Reporter described the project like this:
“Memoirs,” based on an original screenplay by Will Fetters that will be rewritten by Jenny Lumet, who penned “Rachel Getting Married,” tells of two lovers whose new-found relationship is threatened as they struggle to deal with family tragedies.
That’s tempting and interesting, but it’s not a lot to go on. We were going to wait to do this article until we knew for sure Rob had signed for the part, but since the sides are being discussed in various forums, we decided to go ahead.
Pattinson Anonymous are fortunate to know someone who has read the original screenplay for “Memoirs” by Will Fetters and she was willing to provide us with a basic cast list and answer a few questions.
Since we hate baseless rumors, please keep two things in mind. One, Rob has not officially signed for this project as of yet, and our source is not connected with the production in any way. So whether Rob ends up doing the project is not known. And secondly, all the information about this project is coming from the original script. We have no knowledge about any changes that are being made to the script as it is rewritten by Jenny Lumet. These changes could be substantial; we do not know.
And people looking for a complete description of the plot of the film are not going to find it here. Our source was adamant she did not want to “spoil” the movie. So there were certain questions she could not and did not answer for us.
I think, however, that with those caveats we shall forge ahead! Let’s turn a page and check out “Memoirs”.
Update
According to Screen Daily, Robert has signed for this project and it will be shooting in the summer. The film has apparently been retitled “Remember Me”. We are still awaiting official confirmation from Robert’s management or Summit.

Main Cast List

Ally Craig - 19, college student
Caroline Roth - 11 years-old, Tyler’s sister
Charles Roth - late 50’s, Tyler’s father

Les Hoffman - professor, Diane’s husband
Sergeant James Craig - late 30’s police officer, Ally’s father
Aidan - Tyler’s roommate
- - -
Q: So from your list, I would assume that Rob would be playing the character of Tyler?
A: Tyler is definitely the lead, so yeah I would say so. He could play Aidan, too, but I’m guessing Tyler.
Q: And it takes place where?
A: Interiors could be filmed anywhere I suppose, but this is definitely a New York City story. They’ll film in New York for sure, I would think.
Q: Can you describe Tyler?
A: I think in the script they say he’s handsome. He’s a regular kid, a college student. He’s dealing with some family stuff, and can be a little brooding and introspective, but he’s smart and can be witty.
Q: And Ally?
A: She’s not easily impressed by Tyler when she first meets him. It’s cute. She’s a bit tough. It’s just her and her father, so she mothers her dad a bit, too. And he keeps close tabs on her.
Q: That kind of brings us to the main question. It’s described as a drama/romance. How would you describe it?
A: That’s tough. I would say drama first, I guess. Tyler and Addy’s romance is a centerpiece of the script, but even the way they come together actually has more to do with the dramatic side of things I think.
Q: Everyone is going to want to know if there are sex scenes.
A: Ha! I don’t know if it will make it into the final script, but yeah, there is one.
Q: But yet it’s more of a drama?
A: Well, it’s definitely both. Both the Tyler and Ally characters are dealing with some heavy family issues, and in some ways their lives are interconnected before they meet. It’s kinda hard to explain without spoiling it. But I think the relationship they have with their families is what really drives the script.
Q: What about the families?
A: Tyler is struggling with his family, actually his father in particular. Tyler is really angry at his father, and they don’t understand each other at all. Charles Roth is a bit of a workaholic, wealthy and distant. Ally and her father are sort of stuck, too. They’re very close, but he’s overprotective and can’t let go of something in the past. And sometimes he can be a a bit scary.
Q: Are there any particular parts or characters you enjoyed that you feel you can mention?
A: I really, really liked the relationship between Tyler and his sister, Caroline. She’s a very artistic girl, and not well-liked at school. Tyler is there for her completely and she really relies on him. And Tyler is very protective of her. They’re tender and funny together. It’s just very authentic and beautifully drawn. And Aidan is hysterical. He really lightens things up, but is a great friend to Tyler, too.
Q: Can you describe your overall impression of the script.
A: I think it’s very solid. All the characters are really well done. And it’s extremely clever. At the end, you are suddenly quite unexpectedly someplace you didn’t expect at all. It was very, very powerful. It blew my mind.
Q: How?
A: Aaaaaah, I can’t really go there. It’s not necessarily like this is some mystery story full of twists and turns; this is definitely a relationship piece. But the end was just…really well done. I got to the end and turned around and re-read it.
You may notice we called this “Part One”. That’s because we plan to do a follow-up article to answer some of your questions about the script. You can leave a question in the comments, or email them to us. Our source has agreed to try to answer what she feels she can. We can’t wait for “Part Two”!
Part Two is now available here.

Is there something in the script that eludes to what the title means? Why “Memoirs?”
Can i get a one small pic from your blog?
Thanks
Pett…as long as you give credit, certainly.
This character sounds a bit like a cross between Art in How To Be and maybe that character he was supposed to play in Parts Per Billion. Is he?
is it like the movie the notebook, where it’s older version’s of the characters, looking back through flashbacks into their lives when they were younger?

What character will Rob Pattinson play in this movie? Please anser this question!!!
Ana,
Since no official announcement has been made, we cannot say for certain, but it appears Rob is negotiatiating for the lead role of Tyler.
Hey, what’s the exact source to back up that Memoirs has been renamed to Remember Me? The person doing the script for Remember Me, Jenny Lumet, got her start by translating the Shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella to the screen–and there is a novel by Sophie Kinsella named “Remember Me?”. Given all this, it would seem super-tacky if they renamed Memoirs to Remember Me if it has nothing to do with the novel by Kinsella, given that the scriptwriter for Remember Me got her big break by working on Kinsella’s previous work.
Hey, ignore my previous comment–I had my facts mixed up due to a page with two films on the same page with no break in between. But I do still wonder–have they considered that Remember Me is titled identically to a romantic comedy/mystery book by Sophie Kinsella that’s pretty well known?
how can i get a scene from the orginal screenplay?
because i found the casting info but i need a scene from it?
help me please!
Thanks for the info on Rob’s next role. This is off topic but can you tell me if Rob is still doing the “Ohio” movie and when is that being made? Thanks
Yeah, is Robert going to play in that “ohio” movie? and if so, do you know the location of filming?

Guys the rumours abound that tom sturridge is cast in the roommate part of aiden
We’ve heard the rumors, too. Just rumors at this point, though. We’d love for it to be true.
I hope they don’t change the original ‘Memoirs’ script too much because it is a really intense, touching story with an unforgettable ending. Rob Pattinson is perfect for the role of Tyler. I look forward to seeing who they cast as Aidan.
actually Tom is not Aidan
I just read the Script. This film is going to be amazing.
Where can i find the book based on the movie Remember Me. Does Rob have an email fan address we can use.
