Robert Pattinson was busy at Cannes today, and he spoke just a bit about his upcoming role in “Unbound Captives”.  We’ll answer some of your questions about the film’s script in this follow up.

It looks like Rob has definitely signed for the project, as he discussed in this interview with The Hollywood Reporter:

THR: And then?

Pattinson: Then I’m going straight into filming (the relationship drama) “Remember Me,” then have just three days off before going back to finishing up the third instalment in the “Twilight” series, “Eclipse.” After that I am doing a film “Unbound Captives.” I can’t say much about that but I know the script needs me to learn Comanche! Maybe it’ll be like in “Dances With Wolves!” My part is entirely in Comanche, ha ha.

We previously discussed a little bit about Phineas, the role Rob will be playing.  Let’s see what questions people have about the part and the movie.  As a reminder, all of these answers are about an earlier draft of the script.  Things can, of course, change.

Q:  Is the other kidnapped child a daughter? And is she (or he) in the film for the same amount of time as Rob’s character?

A:  The second kidnapped child is Phineas’ younger sister, Rachel.  She also is in the beginning of the film as a young child, and appears toward the end, older.  She probably has less screen time than Phineas.

Q:  While the source says he’s in the last third of the film, is he in that last third a lot or is this more of an extended cameo?

A:  It is not an extended cameo, but the character in not in every scene in the last third of the film, either.

Q:  Is the child’s role substantial?  In other words do you see the child develop into the Comanche for two thirds of the film?

A:  No.  We see the children younger, and then again years later.

Q:  I’d like to know if Rob has any good scenes with Hugh or Rachel?

A:  Yes.  In fact, most of Phineas’ scenes involve either Hugh or Rachel’s characters, or both. 

Q:  Will Rob’s character have a ‘wife’ and children?

A:  No.

Q:  Will he need to be able to use a bow and arrow or is this all gun based?

A:  The character has a bow and arrow and does use it, but not on camera.

Q:  Will he wear a warrior’s long headdress in any scenes in the film?

A:  That is rather hard to say.  Not much of the costuming is described in the film.  He does not initially appear that way, no.  He does, however, have one scene in which he appears “in Indian finery”.  Whether this includes a headdress is not indicated.  I doubt it, though.
