Robert Pattinson and Erika Dutra - A Hot Hook Up?

I guess it’s no big surprise that when this story hit Life & Style’s website our inbox was immediately flooded with questions about the photos.
…Los Angeles resident Erika Dutra and Robert were spotted canoodling at the post-party for amfAR Cinema Against AIDS in Cannes.
“Erika was introduced to Robert by a mutual friend at the beginning of the night and he was smitten with her from that point on,” an eyewitness tells Life & Style. “He took pictures of her, sat with her all night, and the two of them were even seen kissing! There was serious chemistry between them, and they looked like they were having an amazing time.”
And it seems the night didn’t end there for the two: “Erika and Robert even left the party together!” the eyewitness reveals.
Photos! Kissing! Implied sex! Canoodling! It’s everything a rumor needs to take off like wildfire.
Can we mention first off how much we hate the word “canoodling”? It brings with it the implications of everything, but often means nothing. The official definition of the word means: “To engage in caressing, petting, or lovemaking.” That covers a wide range of actions, doesn’t it? It could be anything from a gentle hand on the knee to full-on sex. It’s why the word is a current favorite of the gossip columns.
And as soon as the word was out that Rob was seen canoodling with an attractive blonde in Cannes everyone picked the story up. The original photos were found on Celebrity Vibe. They do not appear to be paparazzi shots, but look like personal photos to us. So how do personal photographs get on a celebrity photo outlet site? Our guess is that someone sold the photographs. Already, our BS meter begins tingling.
And it also appears that the “eyewitness” source for the Life & Style story knows or is friends with Erika Dutra. No other outlet or pictures of her with her name seems to appear. I think we can assume that Life & Style figured out that the blonde in the photo is Erika Dutra because someone who knows her told them so.
The Life & Style article was repeated everywhere very quickly. The story even made televsion on E!’s Daily 10. Note that none of these outlets did additional reporting of their own. They all just repeat the same rumors as initially reported in Life & Style.
The only additional new information on the woman in question came from Lainey and her column at Lainey Gossip. She refutes the rumors:
“….First - the amfAR event was loaded with journalists. Many, many journalists. It would however seem that the only witness to Pattinson’s supposed hookup with this blonde was Life & Style’s source. Because everyone else – and trust me, EVERYONE was watching him that night, including several with a vested interest and much to gain from a Robert Pattinson romance story – observed that he was actually really low key that night, spoke with Emile Hirsch and a few other celebrities, was not drinking heavily, and certainly did not spend most of the night, if any part of the night, in the exclusive company of “Erika”.
Speaking of Emile Hirsch though – you can blame him for Pattinson getting sold out. Because it’s his friend who did it.

We’d been boozing on the terrace when Pattinson arrived with his management. Emile Hirsch, his girlfriend, and some other girls came later.
Eventually Emile and his girlfriend joined Pattinson’s table. Was funny because Hirsch pulled up two chairs and didn’t bother pulling up a third for the attractive blonde who was with them and clearly wanted to sit down. Laura said her face was kinda pouty.
And who was she?
Yes, she was Erika. The same Erika with Pattinson in these pictures.
But they were not taken at amFAR on Thursday.
They were taken at the Hotel du Cap terrace on Wednesday…….These pictures were taken after we’d left. So whoever put these photos out there, whoever made them available for sale (they are being brokered by a photo agency), clearly misrepresented them.
In other words: a friend of Emile Hirsch misrepresented herself. A friend of Emile Hirsch sold out Robert Pattinson. These photos are being sold in high quality. Which means you can’t blame Facebook because the only way they can be sold in HQ is if they’re the originals. Oh wait, let me guess, her camera was stolen…”
But is Lainey’s information correct? After all, she is a gossip columnist, too. However, she was in Cannes and did stay at the same hotel as Rob. It appears she is correct about the location of the photos. Pictures of the chairs and tables used at the terrace at the Hotel du Cap do seem to match those in the photographs. And we do accept that the girl in the photographs is probably the same one Lainey saw on the terrace with Rob on Wednesday.
However, we do not agree that the photos were taken on Wednesday night. It appears they were taken on Thursday evening, after the amfAR event. Rob was wearing a tuxedo with a distinctive lapel at the amfAR event.
Taking a close up look at the lapels on the jacket wore at the amfAR event clearly indicates that he was wearing the same exact jacket in the photographs shown in the Life & Style article. A larger version of the shot of his jacket is available here.
The tuxedo jacket that Rob wore on Wednesday, which was the day of the Inglourious Basterds premiere, has a very different lapel. Even the fabric is quite different. A comparison of the two jackets seems to clearly date the photograph to Thursday evening, not Wednesday. You can see a close-up shot of the jacket below.
So where does all of this gossip, innuendo, photographs, and eyewitness accounts leave us? Nowhere, really. The photographs show nothing more than a relaxed Rob taking a few friendly shots with Erika. That’s all. There is no canoodling that we see. It does appear that Rob first met Erika through Emile Hirsch at Cannes, and Rob currently is in Italy, so I think we can answer the “is he dating her” question with a clear no.
It is also clear that whoever the eyewitness source was for the Life & Style article is lying. I know…you’re astonished, aren’t you? So many of the details are wrong. The photograph was not taken at the amfAR after party at the Eden Roc. As pointed out by Lainey, Rob was surrounded by journalists at the party. If he was kissing someone at the party, it would have been widely reported. It appears the photographs were taken at the Hotel du Cap terrace on Thursday.
So the question becomes, if the source was wrong about the location of the photographs, the kissing at the party, as well as the fact that they he didn’t spend all night “sitting with her” at the amfAR party, isn’t it likely that the rest of the story is incorrect? Perhaps we can assume there was no canoodling? And perhaps we can assume they didn’t rush to his hotel room for hot monkey sex?
Probably so. So, is this one busted? Pretty much. We will say that we have no idea whether Rob and Erika kissed on the terrace at his hotel or got intimate later on that night. No clue. She’s beautiful. He’s handsome. He looks as if he’s relaxed and having a good time with her. It wouldn’t shock us. There’s no evidence of that here, though. The rumor as it is reported in Life & Style? That is BUSTED.

One thing though, I think Lainey was refering to it being Thursday as in “the hours between 3 am and 5 am” Thursday morning when she was in he same hotel bar as Rob. So, in essence, it would have been the correct day - Wednesday night just stretched on into Thursday.
I would also like to point out that Lainey is no fan of Rob’s. She could have easily ran with it but instead stated her facts.
Your point about the Wednesday/Thursday thing is noted. Lainey, however, reported her details of “Rob at the terrace” on the evening following the “Inglourious Basterds” premiere. That premiere was on Wednesday, so she is referring to Wednesday evening/early Thursday morning. And yes, as she was on the terrace at 3am…that woud, officially, be Thursday early morning.
The amfAR event was Thursday evening, so we are referring to Thursday evening/early Friday morning. The tuxedo Rob is wearing is the one worn at the amfAR event on Thursday evening/early Friday morning. We believe the photographs are from that night…not the night Lainey observed Rob on the terrace.
Thank you for busting this one! The girl has a Facebook acct and is from LA. There was nothing else on it that said more about her but I didn’t have full access either. I can’t image how hard it is to know who he can trust and who will sell him out. Hopefully,he’ll learn how to find some privacy. Maybe he’s found some R&R in Tuscany and can relax a little.

the after party for the amFAR event WAS at the Hotel du Cap!
lainey was right about that…she was not right about the date…
but why then she says that she saw the girl in the same outfit?
maybe it was a similar outfit the girl wore on thurday and wednesday…
also the source for life and style did say the pics were from the after party at the amFAR event so they got that one right…according to you
conclusion: lainey is wrong source is right about the date/location…probably made the rest of the story up…but it cannot be proven by laineys story because she wasnt there on thursday
I like the way things are discussed here. Just wanna add something, actually the amFAR took place at the same hotel mentioned by Lainey: Hotel du Cap, and with your theory about the Jacket (that I believe) it really seems that the picture was taken on Thursday+ at amFAR + at hotel du Cap.
To clarify:
LAINEY is the one who stated “The photograph was not taken at amfAR on Thursday.” That portion of the article is a direct quote from Lainey Gossip, as indicated by the link.
As we state, we believe Lainey is incorrect on this point. The photo appears to have been taken on Thursday (or Friday early am) after the amfAR after party, apparently on the Hotel du Cap terrace.
The amfAR auction and dinner was held on the Hotel du Cap grounds in a tent, Not in the actual hotel. The amfAR after party was held at the Eden Roc (the seaside building/hotel on the Hotel du Cap grounds), not at the Hotel du Cap. Rob was staying at the Eden Roc.
So, dinner/auction at the tent on the Hotel du Cap grounds, after party held at the Eden Roc, and then, apparently, at some point during the evening Rob, Erika and some other person or people (at least one other person was sitting at the table) ended up at the terrace at the actual Hotel du Cap.
We know nothing about what outfit Erika may or may not have been wearing on Wednesday. We DO believe, however, that the tux jacket Rob is wearing in the photos is definitely the one he wore at the amfAR event, which would put the pictures sometime after the amfAR event.
The Life & Style article indicates the pictures were taken at the amfAR after party. If the pics were taken at the Hotel du Cap’s terrace (which we believe they were), the article is incorrect.

there’s one more inconsistency to lainey’s story: first time she posted about that robert sighting on the terrace she said that robert didn’t have a tie on and that his shirt was slightly unbuttoned.. and in her second post when she wanted to clear up the rumors she said that the pictures had to be taken after she left with her friends, and it’s highly unlikely that he put his tie back on later that night.. so, everything seems pretty fishy to me..
and it occured to me that maybe it is actually robert’s prank and we all got punkD.. if that’s the case, well what can I say except: good one!
Good job refuting Life & Style..they are a rag. High points to Lainey for not picking up the story and running with it as torrid gossip. I have to say, in one picture, it is obvious to me at least, that he actually looks like Rob is trying to lean away from her. Anyone else think so??

In Laineys artickel it also says:

The sad part of this story is that Rob is facing a harsh, new reality: trust no one. Odds are he was relaxed because Emile is friends with Catherine Hardwicke and Kristen Stewart. Probably let his guard down. His manager/agent probably relaxed a little as well and gave him a bit of space. But famewhores are famewhores and it’s quite obvious that this Erika chick was the source of these photos. Got herself 15 seconds of fame and probably delighted with it. I truly hope that Emile and his GF are disgusted. It makes them look bad as well. Saddest of all are supposed “news sources” that don’t even bother to check their facts or show even a grain of disbelief. Everyone’s trying to jump on the RP bandwagon. The truth is I think we’re seeing the last, golden days of open, honest Rob. He’s going to start putting limits on his answers and a swath a mile wide around his private self. Which is sad, because that’s what endeared him to me in the first place. But, if it protects him from crap like this, then I encourage him to swath away. Better that then lose the private life he obviously cherishes. He’s already paranoid to start with, this is going to make him even worse! Poor guy…

So, the whole article IS patched up, just as we hoped it was. It’s both good and bad news though. Bad in a sense that now Rob will be on guard constantly. Like he has no other worries in his life! He probably learnt his lesson: do NOT trust people you have just met, even though a friend of a friend introduced you to them.

I agree with Kim Cross and I don´t know why anyone else has mentioned it. It is so obvious that he’s tryin to lean away from her. I don’t see he’s smitten with her at all. Just having some drinks and probably just agreed to take some pictures with her. Obviously her intentions were different, by the way she is trying to lean on him.

I was so excited to read Lainey’s clarification. BUT, as I was reading I totally thought what many of you did - that tux in the Erika pics was TOTALLY the tux from amFAR, NOT the tux from Wed (as Lainey reported.) Methinks someone has been bought out by Summit (Lainey?) I am wondering if Summit paid Lainey to push the whole Nikki/Rob thing, and as Ted C has reported…the powers that be were certainly hoping for Rob to see some romantic action in Cannes (and thus distance him from all the Kristen rumors.) Am wondering if Summit wanted the world to see Rob having a some fun with someone OTHER than a Twilight cast member (esp Kristen) but then had Lainey do a bit of backtrack/rebuff to keep his image squeaky clean…and to make it look like he was really NOT into that chick. I mean, just look what a single photo of two people sitting next to one another has sparked! worlds of debate, play by plays, and photo assumptions. And, it would be far easier to make it look like he hooked up with someone so little known, rather than an established celeb who would get asked for the deets in interviews and come off as a credible source. Plus, Ted has long claimed that Summit wants to do ANYTHING it can to squelch the KS/RP relationship (or whatever it is!)

thank you so much for clearing up this mess. I read and studied those photos. I studied his body language. In my opinion, he doesn’t look happy with his arm around her. He kinda has a disgusted look on his face. She probably slid his arm around her for the pic, and he was looking at wondering what the heck she was doing. Snap a pic. A second later, he looks at the camera, snap a pic…Lots of money…It’s a shame really..He is such a honest, modest, caring man. He doesn’t want nor like all this hype, but he knows it comes with the territory and accepts it. He is such a private person. Of course, I’m jealous, I don’t want him with anyone, except me.LOL..But, I want him to be happy. Ok, now I see it. Lainey had me messed up with her timing. Thanks for getting the timing straight for me. And wow, you noticed the different lapels? I didn’t.
I so agree with Dee except that I think Rob is smart about these things. He knows, from interviews I’ve seen, that he has to be careful about tell alls. He has a very tight circle of friends that have his back. I don’t imagine that that will change. That is the one thing I thought about this the whole time - he’s smarter than this. I also think he knows that there are those waiting out there to jump on any and all bad press about him. We are a sick society that feeds on building people up and then watching them fall. Sadly, it really is a matter of “when” not “if”.
As far as getting jealous, I wouldn’t call it that for me at all. The thing that is appealing about Rob is that he is different - honest, nonscripted, raw and flawed…..real. It would be nothing short of tragic, to me, if this asset caused him pain to the point of changing how he addresses his fame. For the first time in a very long time, if not ever, he actually looked like he was enjoying himself and was comfortable with his celebrity status at Cannes and that was terrific to see. Nothing better than a happy Rob. But to end that week on this note…well…..that is nothing short of sad.
Basic question….it isn’t that. It is the betrayal. One thing that he has repeated is that he hates having pictures taken that are then plastered all over the internet and then having everything analyzed. He even refuses fan pictures at times for that reason.
I really hope he finds someone that makes him happy but that is unfortunately a difficult thing when you live your life in a fishbowl. Who would really volunteer willingly for that?

Just my opinion, but I’m thinking Rob was in on the whole thing. It was his last night in Cannes and was heading out to Italy in the morning and probably thought he’d have some fun with the tabloids & blogs. And he might also be getting tired of being a heartthrob for 6, 11 & 14 year olds (as Weinstein commented on his own daughters’ dreams at that amfAR auction earlier in the evening).
Lookit, I truly don’t give a sh$t who he’s with. And, frankly, I laugh everytime I see women freaking out over a photo or possible GF. What effected me about this story is that this was a table of industry people, people he knew, albeit casually, through close friends. Psycho fan stalkers and such I fully expect to sell stories to rag mags in search of a minute of fame and a quick buck. But these were acquaintances of people that he is good friends with, particularly Catherine Hardwicke. This was an exclusive party full of industry people. It wasn’t some random fan encounter at a bar. And that’s the part that I found most disturbing. Hence why I wrote what I did. He is probably laughing his ass off at the fuss, especially now that the source has been called on it. However, I’m sure there’s a part of him that’s pretty disturbed by this as well. That would be a normal reaction for anyone. But I stand by what I said earlier. I seriously believe that Rob’s going to be much more guarded and closed off by the time promotions come around for New Moon. Questions about his private life will be restricted (good for him if he does!) and the answers will be more routine and sedate. Much less of his carefree and witty attitude. Mores the shame but so be it. We’re going to have to wait a few months to see if what I’ve predicted comes true. But I think it will.

I don’t think he really gives a piss what people say about him and good for him! My prediction is Rob is going to do as many movies as he can while he is on fire. He will then find some way to be in “the business” behind the scenes. Writing or producing maybe? He is a very bright guy and there is no way in hell he will put up with this sh$t forever! I can’t decide what is worse, all the “rag mag’s” bull or everyone totally freaking out over him! I mean he is just a human. A very talented one but still just a human. It must really suck to famous! I hope he is one day able to fade back into obscurity and still do what makes him happy. Time will tell.

I feel real bad for Rob, I feel bad for how everyone accuses and exaggerates every time he spends time with a girl. It’s like OMFG, ROB’S WITH A GIRL IT’S TOTALLY HIS GIRLFRIEND… so his supposed girlfriends were let’s see… Kristen, Nikki, Camilla, this blonde chick Erika, and his sister Lizzy [who at the time no one knew] yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh great. Whatever the story was here, did anyone notice how sultry young Robert Pattinson is in that one picture with his arm around the young woman. Yep — I was one of the first to compare him with a young Marlon Brando — and, folks, he has some sultry eyes. He is a young gorgeous man with a charisma and an acting ability — he projects and mesmerizes. Won’t see LITTLE ASHES — don’t want to — but, the movie he made about the captives………yes, that will be one good movie. NEW MOON tease trailer is much, much better than I thought it would be — and whoever is directing this NEW MOON is doing a fantastic job. These young people are ACTING now. This promises to be a great movie. My daughter and her friends are excited already to see it — although they are watching that part about Taylor a LOT. They love it when he becomes the werewolf who is racing to save Bella! Rob — you are handling the media very well. You are becoming savvy to what the media does…………and you are handling them well. I also really liked the kissing auction — you raised some money for a good cause in a creative way.
Hope you always stay compassionate…………and keep your heart and soul in acting (and music) — don’t think you made a mistake by not going into politics.
That woman is so skeezy, the second picture I got the impression Rob had figured that out as well. I hate it for Rob that he has to deal with that, it sucks bad enough having to date and weed through the jerks & slimebags but then to be in the spotlight & have to do it. Yikes.
