The Annelyse Schoenberger Rumor
Is it true that Rob is dating or did date that Brazilian model, Annelyse Schoenberger?
In the late summer and fall of 2008, suddenly the Rob fandom was abuzz talking about a little-known Brazilian model by the name of Annelyse Schoenberger. In fact, you could hardly miss the rumor. There were claims they were spotted everywhere. She was also supposedly chatting about the relationship on her Facebook and her MySpace. But did Rob date this stunner, or has he never even met her?
The Evidence
The initial rumors were bolstered by screencaps reputedly taken from Annelyse’s Facebook account in which she discussed the relationship. These screencaps were posted by “anonymous” sources on various Twilight and Rob-related fansites.
The screenshots showed Annelyse with a man, but conveniently his face was cut off in every photograph. In addition, they discussed the difficulty of keeping their relationship “secret” and Annelyse’s upcoming trips to accompany Rob to Rome and London:
“No, it’s neither of your fault…just continue to do what your guys are doing, keeping a low profile…staying out of the spotlight…and I think everything will be all good….”
“…we all feel more bad for Rob though, sorry, but yea we do…oh and nice cropping on the picture there, lol…you might want to crop a little tighter though because that’s some very recognizable auburn hair right therrrrrrr….”
“….you’ve had like, one day of normalcy whle he is gone….Rome will be insane….”
These postings by an alleged Annelyse and her friends went on for several months. But it seemed a little odd for her to be discussing her lack of privacy in a Facebook account that had over 640 friends. In addition, there seemed to be two accounts for Annelyse…one real and one fake?
Annelyse was also rumored to be spotted with Rob at a Kings of Leon concert in Los Angeles in October. A fuzzy photograph of the duo made the rounds of the internet as well.
But Rob’s Twilight co-star Nikki Reed had something to say about that photograph in a posting on November 17, 2008 in J-14 Magazine.
“Two weeks ago, Rob and I went to a Kings of Leon concert with a girlfriend of mine named Sage,” she says. “Somebody photographed him and Sage together and it started this massive rumor that he’s dating some supermodel named Annelyse, who’s not even her. Us Weekly even printed it. My friend Sage is getting such a kick out of it, you have no idea.”
There were also people who were saying that Annelyse was based in New York City, not Los Angeles, as well. Others insisted she was already in serious relationship dating a male model. And Rob himself seemed to be getting wind of the rumor as well. He commented to Showbiz Spy about girlfriend rumors in November, 2008.
“I am single at the moment but I read stories in the magazines and papers that I am dating so and so or I am dating so and so. But it’s not true. But they are very good guesses because I always fancy the girl they pair me up with.
I’m hoping it’s the girl herself who has made it up - then I’m in with a real chance. Maybe I should start getting in contact with them.”
The Verdict
Rob and his team don’t address many of the rumors that swirl around, but Rob did talk about this one. In GQ’s April 2009 cover story on Robert Pattinson by Alex Pappademas, He’s Hot, He’s Sexy, He’s Undead, Robert himself addresses the infamous Brazilian model rumored girlfriend myth.
“There’s this thing about my supposed girlfriend. There’s this one girl who’s consistently mentioned. It’s like, ‘He’s dating this Brazilian model.’ What’s her name—-Annelyse. I’ve never met her.”
There you go. The people who were pushing this scenario and who created the fake accounts are still at work, though, talking up the rumor on various sites throughout the internet. All content from the Fake MySpace has been deleted and the Fake Facebook account appears to have been deleted as well. In our books, this is easy: BUSTED.
