The Anonymous Note: Tabloid-Mania
Gird yourselves. Something significant is happening in the next week or so.
After a “summer apart” Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are going to be living, working, and breathing the same air in Vancouver, Canada very soon.
The tabloids can hardly wait, I’m sure. With the two on opposite coasts, the tabloids still managed to crank out story after story on “Robsten”. Oh, their “secret sources” don’t agree with each other (’Steamy Nights” ”Rejected!” “Rob & Kristen Heat Up” “New Co-Star and New Love”), but they still managed to spin their stories and slap Rob on the cover as often as possible.
And it’s going to get worse.
Why?
Because we buy these magazines.
Economics. It’s a simple matter of economics. If Robert Pattinson on the cover of their magazine results in good sales, they will continue to put him on the cover. If he doesn’t; they won’t.
But, as fans, we have only ourselves to blame for his continued face on the covers of magazines, the gossip column appearances, the web stories. We buy, we click, we tune in.
We here at Pattinson Anonymous get the attraction. People are curious about Robsten–both for and against the coupling. They’re obsessed with who Rob is dating, has dated, may be dating. Our mailbox fills with people asking questions about the latest “signs”. String-gate 2009? What are we supposed to say? Yes, Rob and Kristen are wearing strings around their wrists. No, we don’t know what it means, if anything. They’re strings.
We’ve spent most of the summer just kind of sitting back and watching it all. Sitting here dumbfounded at the headlines and taking a bit of a breather for the most part, to be honest.
So, what’s the solution? We as fans don’t control what the magazines do stories on; we don’t control who the gossip columnists are going to do a story about today. People are naturally curious. Are fans going to suddenly stop reading about the latest “Rob and so-and-so were seen out to dinner” tale? We doubt it at this point, to be honest.
Is the market finally close to getting saturated? Will fans pass right by the tabloids and not pick up a copy? Are the fans finally getting close to reaching the breaking point? We bet Rob certainly is.
We guess only time will tell. We hope so, because in the end, it takes away attention from what we should be paying attention to: Robert Pattinson, the actor.

Ah, time for yet another movie. Rob is spending his early summer in and around the Los Angeles area shooting his next film, Water for Elephants. We can't wait for that one. And Eclipse promotion is calling his name as well. Happy June!As always...
I am gonna use the old opposite of the Men’s excuse for having a dirty magazine…usually they would say…”I only have it for the articles” I only buy those magazines for the pictures I swear! I could care less about the articles…I am there for the pictures of Rob…they are my dirty magazines..ha ha
You know what! I feel really sorry for them, not getting the right to live their life without all of this! It’s sad in the end. Can you think of being in their place?? I don’t. Probably I’d be in some Mental Hospital or something! I really wish for them to live their life nicely, and don’t go crazy with all those tabloids stuff. Because, honestly I think those gossips will only get worst, since now we have a triangle. I really can wait for what is coming. They’ll start to put them against eachother! HATE GOSSIP!
I hate the fansites as well. They post all the garbage out there as well rationalizing that it keeps people from buy the rags. I wish they would broadcast that load and clear! Fans, what fans, if you really cared about your actor, you wouldn’t support the crazy and sleezy stuff out there!
I, for one, do not buy these mags. Why should I? Everything in them is recycled, cut-and-pasted, and readily available in less adultered form through the internet.
And if I really want to see what the tabloids are up to, I just jaunt over to Robsessed and look at their scans, which are presented there for what they are - tabloid trash, take with mound of salt.
I live in a small city where everyone knows my stuff, and even that can be enough to make me hole up for weeks on end. Tabloids definitely damage the lives of famous performers with their cutthroat approach to making a buck. These are real people, however fascinating they may be to us little folk.
I am guilty too of bying the magazines with pics of Rob in them….and I can tell you I buy the magazine just for the pics…I enjoy looking at that beautiful man…all day long….and I am not a kid…..but a grown woman….I just feel bad for him when he no longer can go anywhere without getting mobbed by fans and papparazzi all the time….Poor guy,,,,he must really hate it, especially with him being so friggin shy too….

The good things is Rob and Kristin do seem to be able to disappear for a while which is good for them. We rarely saw pictures of Rob after rehearsals or on the weekends. Course, he may have just stayed in his hotel which would be totally like him. They both have been able to avoid the money hungry paps for the majority of their time.
OMG! lol I was just thinking as I read the article that I absolutely do not read the articles, but often buy them because of the pics of Rob! I totally agree!
all that is lost on the ‘net.Which raises the obvious question of why I’m bothering to comment. But like I said earlier, I like irony!
I couldn’t agree with the post from RPA more. I feel sad at the thought of what notoriety has cost him. What a double edged sword. I can’t imagine being 23 and living in a fishbowl, trying to find your way through life so publicly.
The more attention he draws, the more he hides and the more the paparazzi persue him. It’s a downward spiral. I personally can’t wait for the next ‘it guy’ to come along so we can finally start hearing more about his acting and not his sexlife. He is a gifted actor but the noise and hype that surrounds him takes all the attention right now. I am anxiously awaiting the end of the ‘Twilight Saga’ praying, for his sake, that his all settles down and he can return to a somewhat normal life.
There is a youtube video compiled by a fan and set to music that is incredibly moving and addresses this issue. I hope I don’t violate any rules by posting it. I don’t own it, don’t know the creator and have no vested interest in posting it.
It just gives me food for thought the next time I are tempted to reach for that magazine full of crap and uncomfirmed sources, pictures or not.

I used to buy these magazines strictly for the Rob pix. But not anymore. I refuse to support the craziness they promote, the outright lies and the stupid speculation. Leave Rob alone, let him date who he wants, wear as many strings as he wants, and drink all the beer, eat all the food and not tip whenever he wants. I will get my Rob pix fix elsewhere! It will definitely get worse, these gossip rags will turn New Moon, Rob, Taylor and Kristen into some kind of tragic love triangle. Gossip stinks!
I have refused to buy tabloids from the beginning…they usually make me angry. I have a harder time staying away from some of the websites. The ones that stay current seem to also get candids and print virtually anything. I sent a note to one website for Rob’s birthday saying if we wanted to do something for him we would keep ourselves from looking at and buying the disreputable tabloids and visiting the websites that do the same. It is easier said than done.
Good for you Amie. Everyone please, even if you don’t read or now that the articles written are pure garbage, don’t buy those magazines! There are other means to get your pictures of Rob! Please don’t buy those filthy rags!

Susan, I agree with you. I watched that video the other day, and I felt even worse for Rob. The stuff that is printed about Rob and Kristen, and the headlines I see on the gossip rag covers in the store checkout line make me want to hurl. I am so impressed that Rob has been able to handle all of this so well, and he’s still the same as he’s always been. I’m sure he’d rather be regarded as the talented actor and musician he is, instead of “the sexiest man alive”. He’s been blessed with such a beautiful face, which probably seems like more of a curse to him right now, but he’s also got an equally beautiful personality. I hope he gets to breathe easier one of these days, God bless him.
I agree about not buying all that trash, it just feeds the insanity. The horrible thing about this instant fame and adulation is that there will come the inevitable time where they need to tear him down and that just breaks my heart, because we know it’s going to happen. It always does. He seems like a genuinely lovely, kind and honest person and all this hype must be daunting to say the least. I just hope he holds on to the analogy he gave to an interviewer where he said something to the effect that “It’s a side dish” and he doesn’t have to eat it if he doesn’t want to. I know that’s paraphrasing what he actually said but I can’t remember his exact words.
I read an article, don’t remember where that said to turn the magazines with trash articles over so no one could see them. Thats what I do. When I see trash articles, I turn them mags over so no one can see Rob or Kristin. Dont know if it does any good but it stops me from buying them just for the pictures!
From what I have seen on many of the so-called Robert Pattinson fan websites, I’m not so sure that the fan sites and the tabloids aren’t feeding each other into a frenzy. The things people write on the websites are so much more worse than what is in the tabloids that I figure the tabloids are getting their info from the “fan” websites! The comments on these sites are incredible–they are invasive, completely speculative, and patently gross regarding the “personal” comments (others really do not want to know what happens in your jeans when you see a picture of Mr. Pattinson…). No tabloids for me, no “fan” websites either…they are bizarre and pitiful.
They don’t care that you don’t “read’ the articles, it’s a sale for them and they will continueto spread their venom. IF tou want to look at pics, go online its free, and the rags may get the message. Although I doubt it.
Imagine having a meal out with your sister and it being slashed on the front of mags nationwide as you and your new lover? (whether you are male or female)

The pics are not manipulations. We hear Rob was provided the car from Summit. It’s a “rental” if you will.
it would be totally harmless if the paparazzi were not everywhere.all the time .intrusive rude and arrogant..and if peoples out there are as disgusted as I’m by those peoples..they will stopped buying the gossip magazines.. as I have..we should all write to them and quote rob.they should get another vocation .they are not very talented .if it was me I would be fuming..when you are a nobody there is very few peoples in life to help you when you don’t have a place to sleep ..or to lend you a dollar..but as soon as you get famous.. everybody loves you and want to be your friends some are more hypocritical than others ..they trive at exploiting other peoples s’ fame as if it was their own..I see them on TMZ and turn the channel as i can’t stand their smack faces making fun of peoples who are lot more successful in life than they ever will be.. it is a brave new world out there..for people in the acting business.. most of them just make a living only a few get to the top and it not for ever ,,talent is the only things that will last.. sadly that one things that paparazzi don’t need to have anyone can take a picture…

Robert is single until he himself says he is no longer single, I won’t believe the tabloids and I will give him the respect of not ASSuming from pics on his personal life. So far he has said in past interviews that he is available.
