Were Robert Pattinson’s Abs Enhanced by Makeup?
I am a devoted Robert Pattinson fan. I am tried of some people putting him down! Yesterday was such a good day, but of course, some people tried to ruin it. My question: most people said his abs were real, and then others said they were air brushed. What is the truth?
Here’s a question we never thought we’d see. Are Robert Pattinson’s abs real or enhanced by makeup on the New Moon set?
I’m sorry, are you asking us to spend time pouring over pictures of Rob, shirtless, to carefully determine if his abs are real? There are so many, many photos.
Are we supposed to pull out the magnifying glass and zoom in on high quality versions of photos like the one to the left here? I don’t think that would be scientific enough.
Should we consult personal trainers? Pull out our anatomy books and carefully compare each pectoral and abdominal muscle to those we see here?
Nah, really the answer is quite clear.
The only way to really determine whether those are Rob’s abs is to stand very, very close and carefully run our hands down his actual musculature…

Okay, we’re having a little fun here, but there have been a lot of questions on the Internet about this very fact. A look at some shots of Rob from different angles shows that he is definitely very lean, and his “V” is pronounced even from the side. Taking a closer look at some shots of Rob from the back and you can see that he has definitely been working out. There is definition in his back.
So, Rob has been been working out. This is not a surprise, since we’ve seen shots of Rob leaving gyms in Los Angeles, and there have been numerous reports of Rob working out in Vancouver as well.
Rob is clearly wearing body makeup to make him extremely pale for his role in New Moon. And yes, from certain angles it does look like the Rob is wearing contouring makeup. This is not an unusual practice in Hollywood at all. The extremely fit actors in the film 300, for instance, had their abs contoured by makeup for the film.
The only direct report we have, though, is from a person on Twitter who was reporting directly from the set. Bellafira was working as an extra:
“Extras confirmed makeup artist was airbrushing robs 6 pack. They could see it from where they were standing.”
Did the team at Pattinson Anonymous really just do an article on Rob’s abs? Yes…yes, we did. You, the readers, asked! We are a slave to our readers.
Well, what is the final verdict? Were Rob’s abs contoured by airbrush makeup? It would appear so. This rumor is BELIEVED. Really, though, it hardly matters. Rob worked out, and he has developed definition. His muscles were then slightly enhanced by the makeup for the film. It’s not a scandal. It’s pretty standard practice in Hollywood.
So Rob put in the work, and the makeup crew helped things along so he looked perfect for the film. We’re just thankful that we have the photos to, er, consult for our analysis.

You guys are sooo funny! Of course you can tell it is all Rob (good for him)! With the pale makeup they had to show some of the definition by airbrushing. Better for us eh?
It’s clear as day that Rob has definition all on his own. but like stated above this is in no way shape or form a scandal of any sorts. It’s VERY COMMON practice in film. And lets face it the pics our yummy. it’s gonna make that suicide/rescue scene AMAZING. I can’t believe it’s still 6 months away. That seems like forever right now =/
Poor rob! Even if he were a body builder, they’d probably have to shade those abs to get them to show up on camera. And they do look enhanced - light angles don’t match up with where ripples should be based on shading (yes, i’ve examined too closely!). I feel bad that everyone’s talking about it - it’s really a standard thing (with this and women’s cleavage). There’s nothing wrong with your abs rob!
I think this is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read. Who the heck cares? Rob is gorgeous, abs or no abs, pecs or no pecs. Someone else’s abs. People need to find another hobby besides professing to be fans and then picking the guy apart bit by bit. I could care less about whether he has or hasn’t worked out, or whether his abs were painted on or not. He’s an exceptional actor and I’m a fan. He can do no wrong in my eyes.
Great thoughts about the subject. He is handsome and gorgeous and perfect anyway, and with those awesome and distracting photos I couldn’t sincerely think about his abs having make up or not. Just stare at it! Aha!

Robert is such a sweetheart…he can do no wrong. I hope he stays as sweet and grounded. HW can do weird things to actors…especially young ones.
I agree with Doreen and Jess. Poor Rob! No wonder he gets so frustrated. He’s obviously put everything into playing Edward, including working out, and people are only focused on whether he had enhancing makeup. I wouldn’t care if he hadn’t worked out at all; it’s what he brings with his acting and personality that is so appealing (ok, that and the fact that he’s one of the most beautiful men God ever created). I’m glad that Rob has good friends he can trust, otherwise all this crap would probably make him go into hiding, and we’d miss out on everything this wonderful, classy, quirky, beautiful, talented guy has to give us. Just keep ignoring all the craziness, Rob. You’ve got wisdom and class beyond your years.
I like to read your analysis and love them. In this case, I can say in any case. My husband and I have trained myself sooner. Robs ABS is 100% real, by the usual make-up assistance apart. The two photos of evidence can be found here and everything fits as it should

Thank you for addressing this! Yes, I know it is stupid, but it’s all over the internet. The man worked out and apparently really hard, and some people just keep bashing him. I knew they looked real to me. Putting make up on the body is no big deal; some people were acting like they were painted on. I thought they couldn’t paint abs on John Goodman so that doesn’t make any sense. Thank you for explaining about make up.

For me, he looks lean and yeah he’s muscles are defined, in that sexy back as well as in his arms, he’s definitely been working out. If they used makeup, who cares, I mean they use that all the time in films/tv/print. I’m just happy to see my happy trail, he’s definitely hot w/ or w/o makeup. Running our fingers to know isn’t such a bad idea too. LOL
I want to say one more thing I am a Robert Pattinson fan. I admire how he handles all this BS. He’s an outstanding actor, and I look forward to watching his career. Not to mention completely gorgeous,humble,a nice smile,a sense of humor, and great bod to booth! Who could ask for anything more.

As you may have heard by now, Kellan Lutz confirmed the abs are real and that Rob and Taylor worked out together. The airbrushing was for enhancement’s sake, but he DOES have the abs! YUMMMM!
at another twilight site is says that Taylor trained him and he is all natural. people need to stop hatin on Rob.
Rob has the abs (I believe!), but probably needed help with more definition due to body make up to make him pale.

Rob’s abs are definitely real. The air-brushing was necessary because he’s pale and the abs need to be seen on screen. Without the make-up, it wouldn’t be very clear. Besides, so what if he’s abs aren’t as defined as they seem. He doesn’t need them to look good in my eyes, and many others in that case. He’s a gorgeous human being inside and out with wisdom way beyond his years, unmatchable talent and a hilarious sense of humor. Though those abs DO look good on him, he doesn’t really need them anyway, he’s perfect even without them.
Shame on all you people who call yourself fans and yet spend time analyzing and doubting Rob. He has worked so hard to achieve this to portray Edward and all you people can do in return is to bash and dishonor him. It’s truly saddening. The LEAST you guys could do is give credit to him for his hard work. No need for the hating.

Let’s not get to hard on Rob, I heard one of the wolfpack interviews and he said the entire wolfpack had makeup on to define the abs more. ALL OF THEM. GET OFF ROB’S BACK

yes he is indeed working out..coz i juts read latests interview with chaske spencer saying that he did a vampire camp just like the werewolf have the werewolf camp..he also saying that rob had beat him at the gym..i am freakin happy 4 this news..but i’m wondering who made him do this coz all this while hes been saying that he not buffing up 4 twilight saga..hmmm
